Brad Kruithof Stars In Local Movie, My Rocking ChairBy Sally Kalosrad Kruithof is a senior at Sandra Day O’Connor High School with a burgeoning passion for acting thatbegan in sixth grade. Inspired by watching action films with his dad, Brad developed a keen interest in the choreography and stunts that animate many action scenes, dreaming of one day being part of that cinematic world.Recently, Brad landed a significant role in the film My Rocking Chair, filmed in San Antonio. This opportunity arose through his stepdad, Kevin, who works with renowned movie producer, Bert Lopez. After early test footage in 2023, the project moved forward, transforming their early concepts into a cinematic reality.In My Rocking Chair, Brad portrays the challenging role of Joshua, a young character with mental disabilities who evolves into a killer. He describes stepping into Joshua’s psyche as an intriguing challenge, particularly embodying the character’s transition into a rageful psychopath. This role marked Brad’s official debut in a feature film, an experience he found exhilarating and profoundly educational about the complexities of film production.The project allowed Brad to collaborate with a crew of creative and talented individuals, enhancing his appreciation for the filmmaking process—from the8technical aspects like camera work and lighting to the creative direction. Playing a villain like Joshua was a novel and thrilling experience for Brad, pushing him to explore new depths in his acting abilities.Brad hopes viewers of My Rocking Chair will see that dreams can indeed become realities and that pursuing one’s passion with full commitment can lead to extraordinary outcomes. His role in this film reinforced his belief in the magic of cinema and the power of perseverance.Besides his recent role in My Rocking Chair, Brad is actively involved in his highschool’s theatre program, participating in productions like Peter and The Starcatcher and Don Quixote. He also channels his passion for filmmaking into creating his own films, which he directs and acts in. His love for directing action movies often involves collaborating with friends to bring his visions to life, a process he finds rewarding and fulfilling.Looking to the future, Brad is eager to expand his horizons in acting and filmmaking. He dreams of not only acting in more film projects but also directing his own films to share with a global audience. He began his athletic career in his freshman year and has since developed intoa formidable athlete in both sports. Brandon’s primary source of inspiration is his mother, whom he describes as a leader, the toughest woman he knows, and the hardest-working mom. Her influence has been a significant factor in his success and development both on and off the field. He credits his mother’s managerial skills and leadership style for teaching him the importance of accountability and teamwork, which he has translated into hisroles in sports.In track, Brandon has made impressivestrides, qualifying for regionals in the 100-meter dash. His dedication to athletics is evident in his achievement as a three- year letterman in varsity for both track and football, demonstrating his commitment and skill in multiple disciplines.After graduation, Brandon’s plans are twofold. He aims to join the fire academy, though he is open to altering these plans should he be offered a scholarship to play college football. His aspiration is to continue playing football at the collegiate level if the opportunity arises.
