OnTheCover: HappyValentine’sDay! y Sally KalosBValentine’s Day has evolved over time, taking on many identities— from a religious observance andancient ritual to the modern holiday we recognize today. This evolution reflects the flexibility of its meaning, allowing each person to define and celebrate it in their own way. Whether you choose to skip the holiday altogether, enjoy a sweet treat or a bouquet of flowers, or take a momentto express appreciation for those around you—co-workers, friends, family members, or romantic partners—Valentine’s Day truly is what you make of it.At its heart, the desire to love and be loved is a universal human experience. While romantic love often grows from attraction, platonic love is rooted in selflessness and genuine care. Love, in its truest form, does not require a romantic relationship;it is found in prioritizing others, offering kindness, and acting with compassion. This Valentine’s Day, let us celebrate love in all its forms and look for ways to bring warmth, kindness, and care into the lives of those around us. May we all experience the joy of a love that uplifts, supports, and nurtures.Love Story SubmissionsA Proposal At The Symphonyennifer went to Lackland for a site visit to one of the buildings she designed. This was the sameHow I Met My Honey Submitted By Coach KImet my honey when I was 12 years old. I loved him even then. Not too long after, my mother made me stop seeing him. We remained friends and he then became my first intimate experience. As time went on, I had a son, married and moved out of the country. He found me in 2014 on the Classmates website. We messaged infrequently throughout the years and saw each other in 2020 when I was going through my divorce. The same infrequent contact continued until I unfortunately had an ex-boyfriend that had a hard time letting go and messaged my honey. This caused us to reconnect and the rest is history. We have begun a relationship rooted in the past; now being built in the future. I believe that he was my first, my present and hopefully my forever love.Fate Just Brought Us Back Together OSubmitted By Renee Kuthyubmitted By Jennifer AlleySJjobsite as Joshua’s projects. About 5 minutes before the show was going to start, Josh got down on one knee and proposed! Jenn said yes and everyone was clapping.Met The Love Of My Life At FifteenJSubmitted By Douglas Weaveruly 4, 1965, my parents took their family including this shy 15-year- old to a beach in Maryland for thefirst (and only) time.I spied on the most beautiful girl I hadever seen in the surf and knew I had to get to know her. She was also a little shy, but we managed to spend the day getting to know one another – holding hands, walking, talking, and falling in love that day.I memorized her address and wrote her that night to tell her how much I enjoyed her company, signing “Love Doug”. Being young and naive I nearly let her slip away, but now, after nearly 50 years of marriage, six children, 13 grandchildren, and two plus two great grandchildren we still hold hands, constantly profess our love and passion for one another, and love with the same intensity we had on our first Independence Day.ur story is a real-life George Strait song... It started way back in fourth grade.I used to sit beside a cutie named Craig. In my pink dress, matching bow, and long ponytail, he kissed me on the playground and asked me to be his girl.Fast forward 12 years when we met back up, thanks to a mutual friend. 3 months later, instead of asking me to check yes or no, he says.... “Wanna get married?” I say “Sure” and there we were April 10,1999, standing at the alter... his eyes all red and the Priest reminding him we were at a wedding, not a funeral. Now we’re grown up and I’m his wife with 3 amazing kids, an amazing son-in-law and 2 beautiful, grandchildren. We knew in fourth grade, fate just brought us back together for our happily ever-after.6 www.bsbhighlights.comLove Stories - continued on page 7 February 2026
