Care Warriors Provides Support For Young Adults With DisabilitiesBCy Sally Kalosare Warriors, a nonprofitorganization, has been supportingyoung adults with disabilities for over four years, although its roots in this line of work stretch back over three decades. Founded in May 2020 by its current CEO, Raeme Bosquez- Greer who also serves on a board of directors with extensive experience in the field, Care Warriors is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities. The organization collaborates closely with AACOG (Alamo Area Council of Government), a state-funded agency that refers individuals to Care Warriors for a variety of services. Once referred, an individual undergoes an initial intake to discuss both short-term and long- term goals which may include learning interpersonal skills, art therapy, budgeting, educational preparation, vocational training, anger management, conflict resolution, socialization, and specializedautism-related services.Care Warriors offers comprehensivevocational training covering resume writing, interview preparation, job search strategies, and job coaching, among other skills. They also provide training in independent living skills, such as budgeting, time management, and household management. One notable success story involves their collaboration with “Texas Grandparents Raising Grandchildren” during the initial COVID outbreak. Care Warriors provided these families with essentials like tutoring, computers, and technology lessons, ensuring that no child in their program failed that school year. Four years on, these families continue to receive support, including school supplies and holiday assistance.Another success story is that of Manny, a young man with Autism and literacy challenges, whom Care Warriors helped to transition into independent living andmeaningful employment.Care Warriors prides itself on finding thenecessary resources for individuals when they cannot directly meet their needs, often collaborating with other nonprofits. For those interested in volunteering or donating, Care Warriors can be reached through their website, where there is a donation button, or directly via the provided contact details. The organization also hosts events such as golf tournaments to raise funds for essential needs like clothing, furniture, art, golf lessons, event vouchers, utility support and more. They have a golf tournament on Friday, Sept 27 at Silver Horn Golf Club to help with fundraising and hope you can participate and help make a difference.
