Reagan High School Track and Field Varsity Athlete, Future Air Force, Kayla BeachRBy Tracy Peterse-located to Texas from southern California sophomore year, Kayla Beach is an all-state academicathlete who runs in varsity track and field at Reagan High School. She had already made varsity in her hometown and has remained varsity all of high school. What has provoked Beach to be high ranking in her sport is her competitiveness, calmness, and amazing attitude.As a senior, Beach will be following her older sister’s footsteps enlisting in the United States Air Force Academy, pursing a degree in biology. Experience running in long- jump, hurdle, and relay races has nurtured within Beach her inner and physical strength, much needed in joining the military. Some of Beach’s accomplishments include: Regional Champion in the 4x100m relay, State qualifier in the 4x100m relay, this summer placed 2nd in Texas region to then qualify for the AAU Junior Olympics where she placed 17th out of 62 competitors. From placing 2nd, she then qualified at AAU Junior Olympics in the Heptathlon (seven events: long jump, high jump, 100m hurdles, 200m, 800m, shot put and javelin). Born to run, Torres is passionate about track and field and takes it seriously. He knows conditioning his body ahead of time will be an added perk when he starts his military training.
