At the age of five, Betsy’s single mother faced the challenge of finding affordablechildcare during the summer. The local YMCA’s summer day camp came to the rescue when Betsy’s mother received a grant, allowing Betsy to attend. This experience marked a pivotal moment for Betsy, as it showcased the YMCA’s commitment to helping single mothers and ignited her passion for community outreach.Bergheim Fire Department, Besty and Jim.In the Stone Oak area, Betsy Dippo is a well-known name, thanks to her unwavering support for various community organizations and many schools in the Stone Oak community. During her 32-year career as a State Farm agent, she sponsored numerous local initiatives. In 2020, after retiring from State Farm, Betsy decided it was a great time to get back in the real estate business. She had acquired her license in 1983 and decided to return and update her education and certifications.Together with her husband, Jim, she completed real estate courses and obtained four designations, subsequently joining Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper Realty. Their return to the community involvement scene was swift, sponsoring events and organizations as they had in the past.Betsy’s dedication to community service did not go unnoticed, as Coldwell Banker honored her with the Coldwell Banker Boerne 2021 Heroes Award. This award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional service and a strong commitment to strengthening their community. Betsy’s exceptional efforts were further acknowledged when she was named the Boerne 2022 Rookie of the Year by Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper.You can easily spot Betsy at community events, where she arrives in her vintage red 1950 Chevy pickup, lovingly dubbed the “Hallmark Movie Truck.” Children adore climbing on and around it, and Betsy and Jim actively encourage such interactions. Additionally, the truck has become a popular photo opportunity at these events.Betsy’s mantra is “My happy place is giving back to the community,” and her actions reflect this sentiment. She and Jim sponsor numerous annual events benefiting various causes, including Winterfest San Antonio for the Brighton School, Barktoberfest for the Hill Country Animal Defense League, and a Stuffed Animal drive for CASA. They also conduct an Annual Sock Drive, Morningside Ministries Menger Springs Senior Living Community Grinch Holiday photo shoot, Canned Food drive for the San Antonio Food Bank, and the Boerne YMCA Turkey Trot. Additionally, they provide and serve the Bergheim Volunteer Fire Department Annual Christmas Dinner. One of Betsy’s cherished initiatives is the Snack Pak 4 Kids SA peanut butter drive, recognizing the difference it could have made in her childhood and the lives of many other children.But Betsy doesn’t accomplish all of this alone; she partners with various local businesses to make these initiatives possible. When asked about her favorite aspect of community events, Betsy mentions “the smiles, the pictures, the giggles, the laughs, and the genuine gratitude” that she witnesses.Betsy is also a proud grandmother who believes in instilling a sense of service in her grandchildren, just as she did with her own children. Her family actively participates in many community events, lending their support wherever it’s needed.
