Bandtober” Marks Arrival Of Competition Season For Reagan BandBWy Danny Cervanteshile football dominates Saturdays in Texas during October, marching bands andguards brace for the arrival of “Bandtober.” This October, the Reagan Band and Guard have two competitions, with the potential for a third before the end of the month. The hard work that begins in July for students and directors is put to the test against some of the top programs in the area and state.This year’s show, “Not So Simple,” takes inspiration from both the song “Simple Gifts,” and its program’s legacy of award winning shows from the past 25 years. The Reagan Band performed “Not So Simple” in late September at its first marching competition, the Bands of America Central Texas Regional in San Marcos. On Saturday October 11th, the program travels to Round Rock to compete at the prestigiousTexas Marching Classic. Judging from these contests prepares the Reagan Band for the UIL Region 12 Marching Contest at Heroes Stadium the following Saturday.Pending qualification, the Reagan Band and Guard will move on to the UIL Area D Marching contest in Round Rock on Saturday October 25th. Top performers then advance to the UIL State Marching Contest at the Alamodome in November.The Reagan Band Parents Association invite our Stone Oak neighbors and friends to cheer on the Reagan Band and Guard at Heroes Stadium on Saturday October 18th. If approved by voters, the $495,000,000 bond would fund projects to address aging infrastructure, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and safety and security enhancements, technology upgrades, and other improvements across the District.The proposed bond package was developed following a comprehensive review of District facilities, enrollment trends, and instructional needs. During the 2023-2024 school year, the District partnered with a consultant to conduct a comprehensive facilities assessment including a replacement timeline. Their findings were presented to the Board of Trustees in August of 2024.In December of 2024, a Facilities Steering Committee of parents, community members and staff was formed to create a long-range facility plan. The Committee met over a six-month period to study data and prioritize projects.
