Drinking water becomes even more important for you to stay hydrated and healthy.Drink half your body weight in water daily. For example, a 150-pound human needs 75 ounces of water per day. When it’s hot outside and you are more active drink a bit more.Drinking water keeps your skin, brain, heart and nerves healthy, and it acts as a lubricant and cushion for your joints and muscles. Water also helps prevent some renal and urinary infections.Drinking water boosts your immune system.Drinking water is good for your hair and skin as well as your vital organs.Drinking water aids in energizing your brain and muscle while relieving fatigue.You also need electrolytes to keep body fluids in balance–1. Magnesium for metabolism, contraction and relaxation of muscles and brain function)2. Potassium to regulate cardiac muscle rhythms and alleviate muscle cramping and weakness and fatigue3. Sodium to maintain healthy body fluid volume and regulate cells – without you may have headaches, confusion, nausea, and vomitingIf you are thirsty reading this, you are already beginning to experience dehydration.Try these tips:1. Start your day with an 8-ounce glass of water with a little lemon, lime or orange slice.2. Fill a glass or container of water and sip all day or at least 8 ounces every two hours. 3. Try hydrating with a sports drink and alternating with or dilute with water. 4. Drink an 8-ounce glass of water before each meal.5. Bring a water jug with you while you are out for your morning or evening walk.6. Aim for 8-8ounce glasses of water a day. 7. Wear a hat or carry an umbrella when walking and wear lightweight clothing.8. Olivia was involved in cross country and track and field at O’Connor, starting these sports in junior high. Throughout high school, she served as a team captain, drawing inspiration from the athletes who came before her. This role pushed her to become a stronger leaderand motivator for her teammates.She was a varsity athlete all four years, qualifying for Regionals three times and Area four times. Olivia was also involved in JROTC, Agriculture and Science Academy (FFA), where she raised swine, and was a member of the Science Honor Society andNational Honor Society.Her advice for students is to staydedicated and trust the process, as consistent hard work leads to results. Olivia’s favorite memory from sports is making it to Regionals as a team, spending time together, and cheering on the boys’ teams.Mentally toughness, developed through discipline and perseverance, is essential in her sports journey. Gabby Guzman, the 23-year- old founder of Big Boom Fireworks LLC, is a perfect example of this connection. As head of marketing, Gabby is helping bring her family’s dream to life while shaping a legacy of her own.A proud O’Connor High School graduate, Gabby was a standout athlete and community role model. She earned a four-year varsity softball spot, competed in the Greater Helotes Texas Teen Pageant, and won the Walter Gerlach Livestock Show. After playing collegiate softball at Galveston College, she’s now coaching a 12U softball team while pursuing a business degree at Texas A\&M-San Antonio.In Helotes, Texas, fireworks represent more than just celebration—they embody family, tradition, andGabby’s role at Big Boom Fireworks goes beyond marketing. She is shaping the company’s mission to create memorable moments for every customer. “We want to provide joy and connection without overspending,” she shares. The Guzman family has always bonded over fireworks, a tradition they’re continuing with their business.This first season taught them the importance of marketing, resilience, and customer service. Despite challenges like weather, the community’s support has been overwhelming. Gabby plans to grow the business by enhancing their social media presence and creating a website for easier access.
