In this issue, we’re honored to share heartfelt letters from community members who submitted tributes to their moms. Reading through them has been a heartwarming reminder of the love and gratitude that fillthis special day.Personally, being a mom and a grandmahas been one of life’s greatest blessings. It’s a role that comes with immense love, countless laughs, and memories that last a lifetime. Whether you’re a mother yourself or have ever taken on a nurturing role in someone’s life, I hope you feel celebrated and surrounded by love this Mother’s Day.As I think of my own mother, who turns 80 this summer, I’m reminded of how quickly time passes. She has worn many hats over the years and faced life’s challenges with grace and grit. Her perseverance is something I’ve always admired and hope to carry with me as I grow older. My husband, Ronnie, lost his mother in October 2015 at the age of 89. She was a remarkable woman with a contagious smile and an incredible sense of humor. Always supportive, especially of Ronnie’s love for music, she was the ultimate band mom—cheering him on at practices andHonoring MomsMom & Ginaperformances. Her warmth, laughter, and kind spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.Mother’s Day was first celebrated on May 12, 1907, in Grafton, West Virginia, thanks to the efforts of Anna Jarvis. Inspired by her own mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, Anna wanted to honor the sacrifices that mothers make for their children. Just a few years later, it became a national holiday, officially recognized by President Woodrow Wilson.Over time, Mother’s Day has come to honor not only mothers, but grandmothers, aunts, and all those who provide love and guidance. It’s a time to show appreciation with kind words, thoughtful gestures, and meaningful gifts.Mom & RonnieAs we celebrate this Mother’s Day, let’s pause to remember the women who have shaped us with their love, strength, and care. Whether you’re a mom, grandma, aunt, or a nurturing presence in someone’s life, today is your day.And to all the graduates out there— congratulations! Whether you’re finishing high school or college, your accomplishments are something to be proud of. And remember: Mom is so proud of you, too.Sincerely,Ronnie & Gina BarberaRonnie & Gina Barbera PublishersFrom fresh sod to stonework and smart irrigation, we create outdoor spaces that feel like home - designed with care by a former nurse who still puts people first.FREE INSURANCE CLAIM ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE“Ware” Quality Counts!• Wind/ Hail Damage • Roof Replacement• Roof Repair • Siding• Windowswww.wareroofing.comCall Today For Your FREE Honest AssessmentRobert Ware Owner & Helotes Resident(210) 325-8049 Licensed & InsuredHundreds of roofs done in Helotes & surrounding areasMay 2025www.heloteshighlights.com3
