He attended Helotes Elementary and Northside High School. He has had a passion for baseball and softball his entire life. He spent many years playing ball himself, and then he spent many years coaching his kids, his grandkids as well as countless other youngsters at Helotes Little League, and later Northwest Little League. He enjoyed and supported youth baseball and softball all his adult life. His most recent love was being a faithful and loyal fan for the Angelo State Softball team where his granddaughter played on a softball scholarship. You can find my dad at his ranch in Rio Medina, Texas. Whether it is going there to hunt, put corn in feeders, fish, feed cattle, repair fences or “just drive around to check on things”, he especially loves spending time there with his grandchildren.ESubmitted By Angelica M. Padronveryone longs to have a loving, caring father present in their lives. Unfortunately, my biologicalfather did not provide me that opportunity. But, as life would have it, when one door closes, another one opens. Life ended up delivering me two great dads some years down the road.My first dad appeared when my mother remarried. I was fortunate to have such a kind stepdad. As a high school counselor, he loved helping students and was beloved by many. He always treated me with compassion, understanding and respect. As years passed, the bond between he and I grew stronger. One day, out of the blue, I called him “dad” instead of “Jim.” I think it surprised the both of us. But it was a welcomed surprise. He was a major part of my life until a stroke took him away suddenly over the 2022 Christmas holidays. My godfather became my second dad. While I remember him being in my life since I was little, I’ve gotten a lot closer to him in the last few years. He has looked after me, provided me valuable advice, and taught me how to cook the most scrumptious Spanish paella. He is incredibly intelligent, creative, and has a wonderful green thumb. He generously mails me the most recent crops of his avocados and mangos, straight from his backyard in Florida! With My Dad Jim, Father’s Day 2016.With My Godfather in Miami 2020.I’m so lucky, and I wish a Happy Father’s Day to both of my dads!My dad’s integrity, generosity and unceasing work ethic helped develop a strong group of loyal friends, coworkers (Pearl Brewery) and extended family members who respect and appreciate him.My father is a man of remarkable caliber and character. He is special to me for many reasons, but primarily because he chose my mother to love and be his wife for almost 63 years.SLA Father To Many Fur Babiesubmitted By Monique Wellesleyoyd Wellesley is a kind and compassionate dad to so many animals over his lifetime. He has a special bond with all animals especially dogs.
