If you’ve never experienced this treat it’s about time.Bananas Foster is a classic New Orleans dessert that originated in 1951 at Brennan’s Restaurant by the owner Ella Brennan. It was inspired by a treat that her mother used to serve her on Sundays that involved caramelizing bananas with butter and brown sugar. I don’t think she served it made with the rum that is in the recipe today but of course it can be made more family friendly without it. I hope you all try this recipe. It’s so easy to prepare and such a huge crowd pleaser. There is also an optional flambé part to this dessert so please be careful and prepared. In the spirit of the French language, it’s Tres Bon.Ciao for now, AngieBrennans Bananas FosterYou’ll need:1/2 stick unsalted butter, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 cup banana liqueur (or orange juice) 4 bananas cut in half lengthwise then halved again, 1/4 cup dark rum, and vanilla ice cream to serve.G Tips To Stay Safe While GolfingReagan RattlersAngie’sTable: Bananas Foster By Angie Bridges2024-25 Varsity Football ScheduleHi friends! Cook stirring often until the sugar dissolves. Stir in the banana liqueur (or OJ) and add the bananas. When the bananas begin to brown, carefully add the rum. (Off flame if using gas stove please) Cook the sauce until the rum is hot and incorporated. At this point you can very carefully ignite the rum with a long match and when the flames subside spoon the bananas over vanilla ice cream and pour that warm sauce over and serve immediately. Now sit back and watch the ooh’s and ahh’s coming from your guests. Enjoy!Angie Bridges is ownerof Copa Wine Bar inStone Oak along withher husband, Jeff Bridges.
