Outstanding Reagan Athlete: Noah OttNBy Sally Kalosoah Ott, a senior at Ronald Reagan High School, has been deeply involved in swimmingsince a young age. Starting with his neighborhood swim team at age 6, he transitioned to pursuing it as a club sport at age 10. Throughout his journey, Noah has consistently pushed himself to achieve excellence, always striving to be the best version of himself.When asked about his accomplishments, Noah listed an impressive array of achievements: he is a 3-time state qualifier, district champion, and regional medalist. He has qualified twice for the Speedo Winter Junior Nationals, received the title of Scholastic All American, was named Most Outstanding Athlete in 2023, served as a 2-year Team Captain, and was nominated for the SA Express News Athlete of the Year in 2023.In addition to his athletic pursuits, Noah has been actively involved in school activities, participating in 4 years of Varsity Swimming and Water Polo, as well as being a member of the National Honor Society.Looking ahead, Noah plans to attend the University of the Incarnate Word, where he will continue his swimming career as part of the university’s Swim Team.Noah Ott doing what he loves to do.to work my hardest in swimming, and my dedication comes from my passion for the sport.”Noah is currently preparing to compete in the state competition in early March andwill graduate Summa Cum Laude in May. She finds inspiration in her daily pursuit of improvement and speed, driven by the goals set by herself and her coaches.Her list of accomplishments is impressive: Montse is a 2-time state medalist, a State Champion as a sophomore, a 5-time school record holder, a finalist for San Antonio Swimmer of the Year in 2023, a 2-time Scholastic All-American, an 8-time NISCA All-American, and she has swum at the PanAmerican Games. She also holds the Chilean National record.Montse is actively involved in various school activities, including the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and running the Instagram account for the Swim & Dive Team. She serves as the Swim Team Captain.After high school, Montse plans to attend the University of Michigan, where she will be part of the Division 1 Swim Team while pursuing a major in Engineering.Montse cherishes many memories from her swimming career, including winning state as a sophomore and breaking the school record with the 2-medley relay.She believes that dedication, perseverance, and patience are crucial for success in swimming. Montse’s love forthe sport gives her the determination to overcome challenges, such as “plateaus” or dry spells in performance. She also enjoys the camaraderie of relays, which unite the team in what is otherwise considered an individual sport.In her free time, Montse enjoys creating graphics and managing Reagan Swim and Dive’s Instagram account.
