Angie Bridges, The Voice Behind Angie’s Table, Will Be MissedBAy Gina Barbera, Publisherngie Bridges, a cherished contributor and the voice behind Angie’s Table, passed away onSeptember 25, 2024. Her death deeply saddens us, as her connections within our community were profound and warmly felt. I met Angie and her husband Jeff back in 1998 when I began working in the Stone Oak community and was introduced to their store, Wine’s Etc. It was through these initial visits that a mere business acquaintance blossomed into a valued friendship, highlighted by Angie’s radiant smile and the welcoming presence of their poodle, Bailey, at the store.Angie’s flair for cooking and her knack for entertaining were legendary. These talents naturally led to her writing a recipe column, complemented by Jeff’s wine pairing tips, in my very first newspaper, Welcome Home. Beyond her culinary skills, Angie was deeply invested in her community. She frequently volunteered, reading to children at the nearby Brighton Center, a school dedicated to serving children with disabilities. Inspired by her interactions, Angie initiated the Taste of The Northside in 2000 to support Brighton Center. This event started as a modest wine tasting and silent auction and grew into a major Fiesta event under Brighton’s stewardship, continuing to raise significant funds each year.Angie Bridges, Queen Of The Vine - 2003In April 2003, during the early days of Taste of the Northside, Angie was honored with the title “Queen of the Vine,” becoming the inaugural queen to represent the event. This title set a precedent, opening doors for others to aspire to in subsequent years. Angie truly embodied the spirit of a queen in numerous ways. She was deeply committed to the community and cherished by many who knew her. Despite her accolades, Angie remained humble, never seeking the spotlight for herself. In addition to her community work, Angie and Jeff opened Copa Wine Bar & Tasting Room in 2005, where Angie continued to share her passion for food andAngie & Jeff Bridges.wine. Her contributions to our publications, including the Stone Oak Highlights, were not just columns but a window into her vibrant spirit. Even as she juggled a busy schedule, she never missed a deadline, ensuring her readers always had a new culinary adventure to embark on each month. The last conversation we shared was about meeting up soon—a plan that will now remain unfulfilled. Her absence leaves a void not only in our publication but in the hearts of all who knew her. Her final column, a reprint from last year, unknowingly became a poignant farewell.Angie was a friend to many and had a big heart for dogs and was a supporterof the Animal Defense League. If anyone wishes to honor her memory, donating to the Animal Defense League of Texas, it will be greatly appreciated by her husband, Jeff, and those at the animal shelter. As we mourn the loss of Angie, we remember her not just for her contributions to the art of cuisine and the community, but for her heartfelt enthusiasm and the genuine connections she fostered. Angie’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched, the community she nurtured, and the culinary joy she spread. Rest in peace, dear friend, your memory and impact will forever resonate with us.We Need Your Help!As many people get older, they find themselves with fewer regular and positive interactions with other people.Whether it be loss through death, divorce or friends moving away, we have allfelt disconnected at some point in time.Silver Connect offers older adults a chance to connect with friendly volunteers through sincere, lively and heartfelt conversation.
