Since its inception in 1967, the Helotes Court tradition has provided young ladies with scholarships while instilling the value of community service. Learn more about their journey onpage 6.Looking ahead, the Miss HelotesScholarship Pageant for 2025 is set for April 18th at Pedrotti’s Ranch, hosted by the Helotes Festival Association. The newly crowned court will reign during Cornyval, which runs from May 1 to May 4, 2025. Now in its 60th year, Cornyval continues to support numerous nonprofits while offering families a fun-filled festival experience.This April brings Easter on April 20, 2025, marking one of Christianity’s most significant holidays, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after his crucifixion. Interestingly, the date of Easter shifts each year, determined by the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox.April also ushers in Fiesta, an annual celebration that resonates not only with San Antonio residents but with people throughout the region. Dating back to 1891, Fiesta began when the Daughters ofthe Republic of Texas decorated themselves and their carriages with flowers to honor the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto (April 1836).This year, Fiesta runs from April 24 to May 4, 2025. With over 100 events, the festival features parades, culinary pop-ups, exhibits, and cultural observances. Visit FiestaSanAntonio.org for a full schedule.One of Fiesta’s signature events, the Battle of Flowers® Parade, takes place on May 2, 2025, drawing more than 550,000 spectators from across the nation.
