Raised in a family deeply rooted in this tradition, with his father and siblings actively participating in Helotes 4-H and FFA, Jace has followed suit since the age of 8. His senior year marks the culmination of 17 years of family involvement in these organizations and participation in the Walter Gerlach Livestock Show.Jace values the comprehensive agricultural education, competitive teams, and leadership opportunities provided by Helotes 4-H and ASTA FFA. Through these programs, he has gained knowledge across various agricultural aspects, acquired hands-on skills in Ag Mech, learned optimal livestock raising practices, and forged lasting friendships across Texas.For the past decade, Jace has raised and exhibited Market Turkeys at the prestigious Walter Gerlach Livestock Show, renowned for its community representation and quality. While her career plans shifted towards a focus on animals, her dedication to FFA remains unwavering. Planning to attend Palo Alto for her associates before transferring to Texas A&M for her masters, Peyton’s passion for agriculture continues to drive her educational journey.Throughout her four years of raising and showing goats, Peyton has found solace in the supportive FFA community. Despite competing against friends, FFA stands out as a drama-free environment where camaraderie and encouragement prevail. The program has been instrumental in Peyton’s personal growth, shaping her into the outgoing and positive individual she is today. Inspired by her transformative experience, Peyton aims to major in Agricultural Science and eventually become an agriculture/goat teacher at ASTA, hoping to provide future students with similarly enriching experiences.Participating in the Walter Gerlach Livestock Show, although challenging, holds immense value for FFA students like Peyton. Despite the stress of preparing animals for showing, the experience servesas a poignant reminder of gratitude and appreciation for being part of the event.For Peyton, goats hold a special place in her heart due to their unique personalities, often forming deep bonds with their caretakers. Her senior year goat, in particular, stands out for his affectionate nature and unwavering excitement towards Peyton.At the Gerlach show, Peyton’s dedication paid off as she secured fourth place in her weight class and received the Senior Showmanship Award for goats. The culmination of her efforts was reflected in the $6600 she earned at this year’s auction, marking a fitting end to her FFA journey.has paid off, resulting in his winning the Grand Champion title this year. The auction proceeds from his success will support his college education at Texas A&M University, where he plans to major in Agribusiness and Finance.Furthermore, Jace serves as President of both the ASTA FFA chapter and Helotes 4-H LSP, demonstrating his leadership within these organizations. Notably, he contributed to the success of the ASTA Poultry Judging team, which clinched the State title and represented Texas at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, earning 2nd place nationally, with Jace himself achieving 5th high individual recognition.BRy Sally Kalosiley Yount, a senior at O’Connor High School, has harbored a love for golf since he was six, drawinginspiration from his grandfather’s serene demeanor and professional golfers like PGA Professional Peter Malnati. His golfing journey has been marked by notable achievements, including varsity letterman status since freshman year, contributing to consecutive District championships, and receiving academic and golfing accolades. Noteworthy highlights include selections for prestigious events such as the PGA Champions Tour and the Tiger Woods Jr Invitational at Pebble Beach.Beyond golf, Riley is actively involved in the National Honor Society and the Youth on Course National Leadership Council. Her journey in track began in 7th grade after the basketball season, where she discovered her passion for the sport. Macy credits her family and coaches at O’Connor High School for inspiring and supporting her along the way. She values the encouragement from her coaches during practice and the positive feedback from her family after each track meet.In 8th grade, Macy became district champion, and last year she experienced significant growth and success. This season, she starts as the 4th place in Texas for women’s high school division for 300-meter hurdles. She also runs 4 x4 relays. Apart from athletics, Macy has a passion for culinary arts and art, often spending her free time baking and painting. One of her most cherished memories is winning the district championship in 8th grade and then returning to the same stadium in 9th grade to continue her athletic development.According to Macy, success in track requires dedication and discipline.
