Looking For Volunteers To Enhance The Lives of Senior AdultsISubmitted By Shane Cartern a May 2023, All Things Considered report on Texas Public Radio, it was cited that, “There is an epidemicof loneliness in the United States and lacking connection can increase the risk for premature death to levels comparable to smoking 15 cigarettes a day, according to a new advisory from the U.S. Surgeon General.” The consequences of isolation of older adults include increased risks of heart disease, stroke, and dementia. A new national program is in the planning stages to strengthen solutions to promote the quality of connections to alleviate loneliness and its medical manifestation.Project 10:27 is a Christ-centered not-for- profit providing services in the Bulverde – Spring Branch area and was born out of the recognition that isolation and loneliness are deadly to our senior adult population. This unique organization provides one-on-one care to seniors throughout the community. The name reflects its commitment to this primary mission as stated in Luke 10:27, “Love the Lord your God with all your heartBAy Mary Jenkins Asquithwww.beyondfaithhomecare.comOur Private Duty Services Include: • Personal care• Companionship Care• Transportation• Light Housekeeping• Additional Services With RN OversightBook your FREE assessment today!210-982-34158535 Wurzbach Road Suite 108, Galaxy II Bldg. Care is offered to homebound seniors who are experiencing difficult times in life such as grief, loneliness, and chronic or terminal illness. Volunteers connect with each senior through telephone contact, monthly correspondence, in-person visits, prayer, Bible study, fellowship, and social outings to assist them in reconnecting with their community. If you want to join in this work or for more information about Project 10:27, go to www.Project1027.org.s we view homes daily, we find that clients love their homes, but just don’t know how to accessorizethem effectively. Just by changing the placement of accessories can make a huge difference in a room. Clients feel a need to buy more and more, but it’s not the quantity of accessories, it’s the placement and quality along with many design elements.Accessories includes art, rugs, vases, florals, and so much more.Complement your nice quality furniture with quality accessories. One nice accessory piece is better than many “inexpensive” accessories.Color is an important key. What is the color scheme? Is there a monochromatic color scheme or a complimentary color scheme, or just neutral with a pop of one color? The cleanliness of monochromatic in light airy colors can be very inviting. The 60/30/10 rule still applies in creating a balanced color palette: 60 percent is the main color or neutral in the room, 30 percent is the secondary color and 10 percent is that accent color or pop in the room.Scale - is another element in designing a room. The size of the accessories, the art, the vases, the floral arrangements. Is the furniture at a correct scale?Function- is important in determining what the room will be used for? Is it for relaxing or is there a productivity activity that is happening in the room?Balance - Is there balance or is the room feeling tilted. Is the distribution of visualweight, color, texture and space in the room. Value - How light or dark a room is. isthere highlights and shadows? Intensity-The brightness or dullness of acolor in a room. Perhaps all you need is a brighter color for that headboard wall or in the entry? Are the window treatments complimenting the intensity and value in the room, or interfering with those elements? Does the room need hard window treatments or perhaps drapes are best. We have so many fabric options which add texture, color, privacy and functionality to the room.A brief meeting with a professional designer can enhance and guide you in the right direction,Creating the perfect AMBIANCE in your home.
